22 years ago a Canadian psychiatrist named Lawrence Pazder co-write the first purported account of Satanic Ritual Abuse with his patient, Michelle Smith.
As it turned out, the book was a complete fabrication that helped fuel a media frenzy which lasted for most of the decade as new allegations sprung up throughout Canada and The United States in its wake - all of which proved equally unfounded and at the cost of very real harm done to children in the process.
And its influence persists today. We have this work of fantasy to thank for all Blasphemy photo sessions taken inside the infamous Ross Bay Cemetery and also for introducing “Feasting the Beast” into the Death Metal vernacular : )
You’ll be able to read more about the Satanic Panic and other related cases soon in the pages of Chips & Beer #4.
For now, enjoy this rare and mega-rough sounding Deicide rehearsal from 1990!
